After the selection of Callum Hudson-Odoi, England’s manager Gareth Southgate has set his eyes on another Chelsea wonderkid.
Callum Hudson-Odoi received his first England call-up in the international break last week.
He made his debut appearance for the side against the Czech Republic in the first game of the Euro 2020 qualifiers. Moreover, he made his first start for England last night, in a 5-1 win against Montenegro.
Hudson-Odoi’s is an interesting case, as he is yet to make his first Premier League start at Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri. He has made eight substitute appearances for the side in the league so far.
England’s manager, Gareth Southgate, meanwhile, has set his eyes on another Chelsea wonderkid as he included him in the senior team’s training sessions.
Chelsea wonderkid attracts Southgate interest:
Reece James, the 19-year-old Chelsea defender who currently plays at Wigan Athletic on loan, took part in the senior team’s training sessions before the side faced Montenegro.
James was a part of the England U20s, but Gareth Southgate integrated him in the first-team training sessions before the game.
Chelsea fans will be looking forward to Reece James joining the first team next season, as both Cesar Azipilicueta and David Zappacosta have so far been inconsistent with their performances in the right-back position.
The transfer ban imposed on Chelsea has created further issues for the club. In such a case, Maurizio Sarri may have to rely heavily on incoming loan players.
The manager would also have to hold on to his current crop of players which form the core group of the club. Players like Eden Hazard and N’Golo Kante have been linked with a move to Real Madrid, with the former publically expressing interest in joining Zinedine Zidane’s side.
It has been reported that Kante has attracted the interest of the Real Madrid manager. The French midfielder, however, insisted in a press conference this week that he’s committed to Chelsea.
How Twitter reacted..
Unpopular Chelsea Opinion incoming.
Reece James and Mason Mount are the only Chelsea players on loan that have a shout at being in this squad. I can’t stress this enough, every single one of the other guys is most likely going to never be first team material if we want to win

Paul Cook: “I’m not speaking about Reece James. I don’t need to. He’s player of the month every month, and he’s man of the match almost every week. There’s nothing else I can say about him. And he’s as good a lad as he is a player.” #wafc #cfc pic.twitter.com/olciO7BbsL

Reece James training with the England senior squad. Southgate taking a look, just like he did with Mason Mount. #CFC https://t.co/wmbZJYXRbu

Hudson-Odoi, Loftus-Cheek, Reece James, Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount should all be integral parts of Chelsea’s squad next season. Especially with the transfer ban. Clear out the deadwood. Bring through a hungry homegrown spine #cfc
