Popular Twitch Streamer Disguised Toast recently revealed in a tweet that he had incurred losses close to $1 million while operating ‘Disguised,’ his Esports venture.

Esports is in a tough spot right now. A lot of organizations are incurring lots of losses due to events being dominated by stronger teams. FaZe quite a while ago revealed that they were bleeding lots of money due to their Esports venture. Joining them is the Disguised Toast esports team.

Toast has amassed a huge fan following due to his jolly personality and happy nature. Half a year ago, he made his own team called ‘Disguised,’ or ‘DSG‘ for short. He recently revealed in a Tweet with a screenshot of the team expenses which showed heavy losses.

Disguised Toast Reveals Losses For Esports Team on Twitter

Firstly, the reason why Toast is incurring such heavy losses is because of the investment in the Valorant team playing the VCL NA 2023. However, they are not winning matches even though they have world-class players on the team like Yay who has won championships in Valorant before.

Showing his transparency to the public, the content creator/org owner shared a screenshot of a spreadsheet showcasing all of the expenses for his team. The cost of maintaining the whole team came in at around $992k.

However, DSG is not the only organization that is bleeding money in Esports due to unfortunate circumstances, a case in point, is FaZe.

FaZe Rain during the Black Ops II days was one of the most prominent names in the community. He was the face of FaZe clan. However, in a recent scuffle with Nickmercs, the current head of FaZe, Rain revealed that he (Nickmercs) as a CEO is not doing enough for the organization.

That being said, the problem runs deeper. In a video, Rain revealed that FaZe is losing close to $750k (Every Month) due to several expenses occurring in different Esports ventures mentioned below. Here is a detailed look at those figures.

  • Super Smash Bros: $25,000
  • Valorant: $224,000 (For Men) and $94,000 (For Women)
  • Apex Legends: $37,000
  • FIFA Online: $21,000
  • Fortnite: $48,000
  • R1: $86,000
  • The Flank: $33,000
  • FIFA: $1,000

But some teams are doing better despite the hard times they have encountered in the world of Esports. We are referring to ENCE and how they turned around and hold their own in the financial crisis and made profits.

ENCE is doing really well for itself despite all most organizations losing their money over Esports ventures. The organization has not only survived, but it has flourished, registering profits in millions of dollars.

According to the books of the Finnish Esport Organization, last year, ENCE made a profit of € 1,114,966 while reporting an income of € 4,071,279. That is better than what most organizations do in their lifetime. Most of the earnings have come from the Cs: GO team of the organization and it will continue to be successful as the higher-ups believe the team has lots of potential.

The Future of Esports

Esports is in a really vulnerable place right now. There are winners and losers. Not every team can make a profit and run their organization based on what they earn. That is why, there are sponsors who give a helping hand to the owners of the organizations.

However, if they fail to show results, either by winning tournaments and getting prize pools or selling merchandise, then there is a high chance those sponsors will withdraw their investment, leaving the organization vulnerable.

That is why, organization owners need to plan out every strategy during their venture ranging from merchandise and content to Esports-related problems like teams, coaches, and strategy. Only then will they see success in the long run.
