Barcelona’s Portuguese outcast Andre Gomes is set to leave the Catalan club at season end. Barcelona have set a price tag of €30mn on the midfielder and are ready to accept offers for his services. Reports claim that Barcelona will supposed to announce the decision soon after their 5-0 thrashing of Sevilla in the Copa del Rey final.
According to Diario SPORT, André Gomes will certainly not be an FC Barcelona player next season. The decision has been made “weeks ago,” the report says, and the player and the club are in agreement. The only question would be what his next destination would be, as he’s had a couple of suitors in the past.
Gomes understands that he has no future place in the current Barca squad. He has not developed as a player as he was expected to, both from a personal point of view or from the point of view of Barcelona’s sporting directors.
The player recognizes that it is the right time for a change of scenery and to look for new challenges that will allow him to recover the level he showed when he was at Valencia and which compelled Barca to sign him for 35 million euros plus 20 million in bonuses.
Along with Andre Gomes, Barcelona are set to lose out Yerry Mina on loan as well. Barcelona’s quota of Non-EU players of three is already complete with Philippe Coutinho, Luis Suarez and new arrival Artur. Andres Iniesta has also given strong hints of leaving for the CSL or Qatar in the summer.
