Andre Russel was knocking off Sri Lanka until Lasith Malinga showed his class

Andre Russel was at the strike rate of 250+ while knocking away Sri Lanka in the T20I match, but Lasith Malinga changed the course.

In the later part of the innings by West Indies’ Andre Russel was highly explosive and was hitting at the strike rate of 250+, at this speed he was destined to take his team to a score more than 200.

But it did not last long for Russel, as Sri Lanka’s legendary bowler Lasith Malinga stepped in to halt this furious inning by Russel in the T20I game between both sides.

The 36-year-old bowler delivered a lightning-fast yorker in the 16th over to dismiss Russel, who had no response to the brilliant delivery by the Sri Lankan bowler.

Russel was stunned by this unexpected bowl by him and had to return to the pavilion. Nevertheless, it was an impressive knock by Russel who scored 35 runs in just 14 balls while coming second down in the 13th over.

West Indies had an impressive start to the game as Lendl Simmons and Brandon King made a partnership of 74 runs in 8.2 overs. Nicholas Pooran couldn’t shine and returned back after hitting just 14 runs followed by the mentioned inning by Russel.

When Russel got out West Indies had scored 145 runs, but Simmons sensational innings kept the Windies alive in the game as the 35-year-old batsman remained not out while hitting 67 runs on the board.

On the other hand, even Kieran Pollard’s terrific 34 runs in 15 balls took West Indies above 190 runs. With this score, the game is still in the hands of West Indies as of now.

Meanwhile, Malinga did take the wicket with a sensational yorker but that was his only wicket in his spell and the lack of fall of wickets did cost Sri Lanka in the game.
