BREAKING : Anil Kumble steps down as coach of Team India
We all knew that it would end like this. According to reports coming out of the BCCI, Anil Kumble steps down as coach of team India.
Eyebrows were raised as Kumble did not accompany the team to the West Indies. Although his contract was only until the end of the Champions trophy, he was widely expected to stay on till the West Indies tour.

The BCCI had given Kumble an extension until the end of the Windies tour, which was then turned down by Kumble. The legendary leg spinner was hurt by all the controversy surrounding his job over the last few weeks.
Apparently, Kumble and Kohli were not seeing eye to eye for a few days prior to the Champions trophy. Many claim that the pair barely had any interaction during the tournament as well. According to reports, Kohli has told the BCCI that the team would like to have a new coach.

The official reason why Kumble has stayed back is because he has to attend the ICC ‘Annual Conference’. This conference started on Monday and will continue until June 23. “Funny, the ICC Meeting dates are known for months and so is the West Indies itinerary. You mean Anil didn’t know he had to choose between ICC Meeting and the West Indies tour. May be he is finding it too difficult to continue,” the official said.
This is an unfortunate situation for Indian cricket, as Kumble has had tremendous success during his tenure as the head coach.
