The Chelsea midfielder was far from impressed by the referee’s decision
Left out in the cold by Frank Lampard for some flabbergasting reason, Matteo Kovacic has once again remerged as the mainstay of Chelsea’s midfield under Thomas Tuchel’s tutelage.
And the Croatian player has been quick to remind everyone of why he’s taken no time at all to endear himself to Chelsea’s supporters. Running the show in midfield on Monday, Kovacic ended up with a worldclass display, one which saw him stamp his authority all over the park.
The player also poured an insight into the passionate side of the game. Failing to see a call swing in his favour, Kovacic was more than ready to give the linesman an earful and make his feelings towards the decision well known.
Kovacic Left Aghast At Referee’s Call
“Are you sleeping? Are you sleeping here? You need to be watching the game.”
Tuchel Left Smitten By Kovacic
Tuchel meanwhile spared no expense in praising Matteo Kovacic and the staggering influence the player had during the side’s 2-0 triumph against Newcastle United.
“I love him. I could wake the guy at 3 at night and he will be at Cobham at 3.15 ready to give everything. I need to calm the guy down in training, that he’s not doing too much. It’s a pleasure to have him,” the 47 year old German commented on Kovacic.
Tuchel Left In Angst By Referee’s Call On Abraham
Tammy Abraham had to depart the side’s match within the first half itself after failing to recover from a malicious tackle on him. And Tuchel revealed how the club had highlighted the magnitude of the challenge to the referee.
“My assistant tried to show him on the iPad. We had the feeling that it was a reckless tackle. He played the ball, yes, but for it was too much because you risk the injury of an opponent and for me, it was a foul.
“It was reckless but OK, I don’t want to criticise,” Tuchel said.
