Arsenal are keen on strengthening the squad for the next season, and are pursuing the RB Leipzig midfielder.
Arsenal have held talks with Emil Forsberg’s agent regarding a deal for the midfielder, according to SportExpressen.
Forsberg has been a pivotal figure in RB Leipzig’s side over the years. The Swedish midfielder has played a major role in the German club’s meteoric rise in domestic as well as European competitions.
According to the Swedish newspaper, Forsberg has been valued at a whopping £47m by RB Leipzig, as he continued to impress the club faithful. His partnership with Timo Werner has been central to RB Leipzig’s successful domestic campaigns.

The newspaper also reports that Arsenal are not the only club monitoring Emil Forsberg. According to the report, the midfielder has also garnered interest from Juventus and Atletico Madrid. However, both the clubs are still to formally contact the players’ agent or the club regarding a transfer.
Arsenal are set for a major overhaul with a change in manager at the club. The Gunners had a disappointing domestic and European season. The club finished 6th in the league and bowed out in the Europa League semifinal to eventual winners Atletico Madrid.
Unai Emery has reportedly identified summer targets, which include Sokratis Papasthathopolous, Adrien Rabiot, Jean-Michael Seri and Sergio Rico. The Spanish manager has been given a transfer budget of £50m for the summer, although some reports suggested that the budget has been increased to £70m.
It is also reported that Emery will raise funds for more transfers through sale of players, with names of Shkodran Mustafi and Danny Welbeck surfacing for the players to be sold.
Emil Forsberg has a contract with RB Leipzig until 2022. Sportsexpressen reports that it would take a bid in the region of £45-£50m to see the potential superstar leaving the German club.
