And with Wenger making it clear that the likes of Sanchez, Ozil and Chamberlain will not be allowed to leave this summer, Arsenal fans were quite eager for the start of the new season.
All that positivity has evaporated though. Arsenal’s humbling 4-0 loss at Anfield raised questions marks and sparked a crisis just three games into the season.
Arsene Wenger was left squirming in his seat, as the great man must have wondered if he had made the right decision to sign a new two year deal.
Wenger had made several baffling team selections ahead of the Liverpool match. Many people wondered if the decision to play Sanchez and Chamberlain was a wise one. As it turns out, not a wise one indeed.
Wenger immediately sanctioned Chamberlain’s sale, and accepted Chelsea’s 40 million bid for the Englishman.

Chamberlain wants to move to Liverpool instead, where in he will stand a much better chance of playing in midfield.
