Arsenal Transfer News: Unai Emery consider making move to sign World Cup winner in summer transfer window

Unai Emery is reportedly pondering about a potential move to sign Mario Gotze from Borussia Dortmund.

Arsenal are preparing to take on Chelsea in the Europa League final at Baku on Wednesday, with Arsenal waiting until the game to finalize their transfer plans. The transfer budget available will be solely relying on this game, with the Champions League football still not in stake.

They have been linked with many players across Europe, with Mario Gotze the latest to be rumoured on the shortlist. The German International endured a torrid time with Bayern Munich personally and moved back to Borussia Dortmund in 2016. He struggled to find his old mojo at Signal Iduna Park, but it was a relatively good campaign.

Under Lucien Favre, Gotze has scored seven goals in 34 appearances this campaign. He was not part of the starting lineup, but he proved to be an incredible asset as an impact substitute as the Yellow and Blacks finished second in an unpredictable title race.

Bild have reported that Arsenal would be willing to meet Gotze’s wage demands and lure him to Emirates Stadium. The German International’s contract expires in 2020 which paves way for multiple clubs to tussle out for his signature.

The World Cup winner is hesitating with the new deal because of the incomings including Julian Brandt and Thorgan Hazard. The duo occupies the same position as Gotze which has forced him to stall a new contract.

At the other side, Arsenal have lost their long-standing servant Aaron Ramsey in a free transfer to Juventus. Despite losing the old rhythm, Gotze will prove to be a good signing for the Gunners. He likes to carry the ball from the midfield to attack and contributes very well in the final third of the game too.

Mario Gotze would turn 27 in four days. With time on his side, Gotze will be a valuable addition to Unai Emery’s side. Despite his wretched second stint with the club, he has scored 11 goals in 82 appearances for the club. He could follow Aubameyang and Sokratis to London if a suitable offer arrives.
