Watch Henderson howler hands Liverpool a lucky 1-0 victory over Sheffield United

Watch: Henderson howler hands Liverpool a lucky 1-0 victory over a spirited Sheffield United side in the Premier League earlier in the day.

Liverpool have steamrolled through sides this season. A form they have carried over from last season where they were beaten but once in the premier league. Every English side they have faced, including Arsenal and Chelsea, has been incarcerated.

With 6 victories on the trot, a 7th looked very much on the cards. Sheffield however, had other plans. Having just beaten Everton last week, the side were hoping to crash and burn another team from Merseyside.

Doing so would be a much harder task though but the Blades gave a good account of themselves. They meant business and they showed that when they suffocated Liverpool’s attack to have them return without a shot on target in the first half for the first time this season.

After keeping the Reds quiet for over an hour, it seemed fair that the two sides share a point. It was not that Liverpool had performed poorly. Instead it was Sheffield who had raised their game by miles. Unfortunately, one little error cost them the match and laid waste to everything they had done earlier.

Dean Henderson, on loan from Manchester United, had one of those brain fade moments that happens to every player occasionally. Wijnaldum hit the ball from the edge of the box only to find Henderson who easily collected the ball. Or so it seemed as the ball squirmed through his legs and trickled over the goal line.

It is not as if Henderson was the only one on the field to make a mistake in the match. Both Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah missed one on one chances. However, it was ultimately Henderson’s mistake that proved the costliest.

It is unlikely though that the team will mind too much. For a newly promoted side that took the champions of Europe to the edge of their seat, they have proven that they belong in the English top flight.
