MS Dhoni coaches Indian players during a practice session in Dubai, as Indian team gears up for Asia Cup 2018.

India has reached the United Arab Emirates, where they will kick-start their Asia Cup campaign against Hong Kong on September 18.

The Asia Cup began yesterday with Bangladesh registering a huge win over Sri Lanka to lead the Group B. India are drawn with Pakistan and qualifiers Hong Kong in the Group A.

MS Dhoni returns to the side after a long absence, as India returns to limited-overs format after the five-match test series against England. Asia Cup also sees the return of Rohit Sharma, who will lead the side in the absence of Virat Kohli, who is rested.

Team India’s coach Ravi Shastri has not yet reached Dubai, and MS Dhoni has assumed the responsibility to mentor the youngsters. The Indian wicketkeeper and former captain is the most senior member of the side in the Asia Cup 2018.

In the video which was recently posted on YouTube, MS Dhoni can be seen providing bowling tips to Prasidh Krishna. The video also claims that Indian captain Rohit Sharma assigned the task to mentor the youngsters to MS Dhoni.

The 37-year old Indian wicket-keeper also spent time in the nets, and looked in good shape for the tournament.

India’s first-team captain Virat Kohli has been rested for the tournament after a long tour to the United Kingdom.

India will play two group matches in two days, against Hong Kong on September 18, and arch-rivals Pakistan a day after.

The first and second ranked team from both the groups will qualify for round-robin fixtures. The Group B fixtures begin today as Pakistan take on Hong Kong at the Dubai International Stadium.
