Barcelona keen on signing Matthijs de Ligt

Barcelona are running away with the league title this season, as there does not seem to be any side who can catch them this year.

But that has not stopped Barcelona from looking at potential reinforcements next season, as there are certain parts of the team that needs to be freshened up.

With French defender Samuel Umtiti’s future up in the air for now, Barcelona scouts are now looking for potential replacements for Umtiti. The Frenchman’s biggest complaint is the disparity in his wages, as Umtiti wants a significant pay rise on his current wages.

Clubs around Europe have been sound out by the French international’s agent, as the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City are extremely interested in bringing Umtiti to the Premier League.

Barcelona are also looking at someone who could be a long term replacement for Gerard Pique, as the great Catalan will soon lose his footballing powers.

Gerard Pique has been an icon of Barcelona and has been one of the greatest defenders of his generation. The Catalan’s enormous shoes need to be filled by someone someday, which is why Barcelona have started their search for his eventual replacement.

According to reports, both Real Madrid and Barcelona are looking to sign Inter’s Milan Skrinar. The Slovakian defender has quickly become a star in Serie A, as Skrinar has come up on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in world football.

But with Skrinar unwilling to leave Italy for now, Barcelona have continued their search.

Now it looks like Barcelona are interested in Dutch defender  Matthijs de Ligt. The 18-year old has shown tremendous promise at Ajax, and could become one of the best defenders in world football.

Real Madrid are also very keen on the Dutchman, which is why we could have another transfer battle on our hands!
