Barcelona Transfer News: 'Neymar return would be incredible' says Xavi

Xavi has said that Neymar’s signing would be ‘incredible’, although he admitted about the difficulty of the deal.

Former Barcelona Skipper Xavi opened doors for Neymar’s return by labelling it as an ‘incredible signing’, though he added the complications in the PSG forward’s deal to successfully go through.

The Brazilian, who swapped Barcelona for Paris Saint Germain in 2017, has failed to return for the pre-season camp as he continues to force a move away from the club. Soon after this incident, the French club’s sporting director Leonardo placed him on the transfer market, with alluring interest from Barcelona again.

The Blaugrana are willing to take him back, but the deal has currently hit a snag, owing down to the financial difficulties.

Xavi, who played with Neymar before moving to Qatari side Al Sadd, said: “He would be an incredible signing. But I see it as being difficult, honestly. I think it’s very difficult.

“We have seen so many things that I thought I’d never see though, such as PSG paying €222 million, so we’ll have to wait. There’s no doubt that he’s one of the best players in the world, but let’s see what Barcelona do.”

Atletico Madrid attacker Antoine Griezmann has been linked with a potential move to Nou Camp. He confirmed his departure during the conclusion of last season.

Xavi believes that Griezmann would be a great signing because of his experience at the top level with Atletico Madrid and France.

He added: “He’s a great player, a world star. He made a difference with Atletico Madrid and with France. He’s an extraordinary player. It’s still not official, but it seems like he’s going to Barcelona. I think it’ll be a great signing.”

The Spanish Champions failed to cross the line for Antoine Griezmann’s transfer, as they strive for money after banks refused to lend them a loan for the transfer.

Atletico Madrid are furious after Barcelona’s avow to pay the entire €120 million for the French International. Diego Simeone did not take too much time and signed Joao Felix from Benfica for €126 million – believing that the deal for Griezmann would not have any complications when his release clause falls from €200 million to €120 million on July 1. However, the Blaugrana are anticipated to pay the release clause in La Liga headquarters in the coming days.

Here’s how Twitter has reacted..

What’s next?

Neymar’s transfer will include a lot of money, as Xavi said. With the financial troubles currently, Barcelona will have to find a route if they are desperate about the Brazilian’s return.
