BBL Challenger 2021: Chris Lynn proud of Brisbane Heat for making stellar comeback in BBL 10

Chris Lynn proud of Brisbane Heat: The captain of Brisbane Heat has warned the haters ahead of a virtual semi-final tomorrow.

It was not until their fourth league match of the ongoing 10th season of the Big Bash League that Brisbane Heat tasted first victory this season. Having won just one out of their first five matches, Heat were nowhere close to qualifying for the knockouts.

However, three consecutive wins at the start of this year followed by two in their last two league matches were enough for Heat to finish as the fourth-ranked team on the points table.

Coming on the back of winning the Eliminator and Knockout against Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Thunder respectively, Heat are now slated to face Perth Scorchers at the Manuka Oval tomorrow in what will a virtual semi-final ahead of the final against defending champions Sydney Sixers.

Chris Lynn proud of Brisbane Heat

Speaking on the eve of the Challenger match in Canberra, Brisbane Heat captain Chris Lynn didn’t mince his words while warning the “haters and doubters”. Furthermore, the 30-year old player was wax lyrical about his teammates who put on display praiseworthy performances especially in the second half of the tournament.

“Obviously, I want to get stuck into all those keyboard warriors and haters and doubters. I know the boys definitely felt that in the last couple of years and even the start of this year when we were [at] one [win] from four [matches]. It’s not a great space to be in.

“For us, I’m so proud of the way the boys have bounced back and the resilience they’ve shown to put wins on the board. They’re not polished wins but they’re grinding and character building wins,” Lynn was quoted as saying in a video posted by cricket.com.au.

Leading from the front despite missing four matches this season, Lynn has been Heat’s top-scorer by a huge distance as his 436 runs in 12 innings have come at an average and strike rate of 36.33 and 156.27 respectively. Currently the fifth-highest run-scorer in BBL 10, Lynn has the most half-centuries (5) to his name at this point in time.
