BCCI have announced India’s test squad for the upcoming series against Sri Lanka, with a couple of surprises in store for the fans!

The team will be led by Kohli of course and will be the lynchpin in the batting order. He will be supported by KL Rahul, Murali Vijay, Shikhar Dhawan, Ajinkya Rahane, Chetashwar Pujara and Rohit Sharma. Saha will the be first choice keeper for the team and will be looking build on his recent performances.

Hardik Pandya will the seaming all-rounder for the side, while Ashwin and Jadeja return to the team as bowlers who can contribute with the bat. The pair will also have Kudeep Yadav breathing down their necks as competition heats up for a place as a spinner in the side.

The pacers for the series will be Shami, Bhuvi and Ishant Sharma. Ishant will be looking to make a great impression as the selectors do not have a place for Umesh Yadav.

Umesh is at the peak of his powers which is why it is a surprising decision to not include the pacer in the side. After having a very good home season, Yadav would have expected to be picked and justifiably so.

This will also be a huge series for Ashwin and Jadeja, as the selectors are hinting that they will only be considered for selection in the Test match format. That would be a controversial thing to do as the spin duo still have a lot to offer in the limited overs format of the game.

The returning Vijay will also want to star in the first two matches, as he will try to cement his place in the side.
