Tuchel has not sat back from ripping into his players
Even before Thomas Tuchel had taken over charge at Chelsea, many had talked about the German being an extremely gruelling and hard task master. And Tuchel has lived upto that moniker with a bevy of incidents showcasing his no nonsense approach towards football.
The manager has already been caught shouting out instructions to Timo Werner on the pitch. In a clip which has been doing the rounds, Tuchel can be seen left miffed with Werner’s inability to play in the position spelt out to him.
Chilwell Fails To Impress Werner
The Chelsea supremo’s continued in his straightforward manner come his side’s matchup against Leeds United as well. Fullback Ben Chilwell was the object of Tuchel’s fury this time around with the 47 year old German seen caught bellowing, “Be more serious” at Chilwell during the match.
Chilwell made an appearance into a reshaped back four for Chelsea during the club’s 0-0 draw. He was subsequently asked to function in a left wingback role as Tuchel switched to his ritual 3-5-2 formation as the match wore on.
Chilwell who joined Chelsea from Leicester City has failed to convince Tuchel since the German has been at the helm of the club. Chilwell who was a mainstay of Lampard’s gameplan has now had to play second fiddle to Alonso.
Chelsea Overhaul Defensive Structure
However, it’s a move which has worked in Chelsea’s favour with the club registering its 10th cleansheet in 12 matches under Tuchel’s reign. The side has let in a measure two goals in the timeframe with one of them being an Antonio Rudiger own goal.
While the defensive side of the game has been exceptional, Tuchel continues to scour for attacking solutions. The side has scored on just 13 occasions in 12 matches with the club’s dreary attacking form costing the club against Leeds United.
“If you can split this game into different segments maybe then yes but in my opinion it is not possible, it is always a team effort. Our strikers never stopped working, our frontline always has intensity and counter-pressing. Do they always arrive in the freshest moment? No.
I believe we have enough quality to create more and to be more clinical. It is my responsibility to create more and to have even more big chances,” Tuchel said as he talked about his strikers after the 0-0 draw.
