After missing out on both Oxlade Chamberlain and Ross Barkely, Antonio Conte must have been praying that the deal for Danny Drinkwater sails through.
The Italian must have thought that he was going to lose out on him, when nothing was confirmed heading into the last two hours. But Chelsea pulled it across the line, as Drinkwater completed a last gasp move to the reigning champions.

Antonio Conte has been keen to bolster his midfield options in the final few days of the transfer window.
And Drinkwater has been heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in recent weeks.
The champions sold Nemanja Matic to United this season, clearing up space for the arrival of Bakayoko from Monaco. Conte now looks to add a different perspective to the squad by singing the 27-year old.
Kante moved from Leicester to Chelsea during the summer of 2016, and became the first player to win back to back Premier League titles with different clubs.
Although Kante and Mahrez outshone every other player during their campaign, Drinkwater was an integral player of the team with his ability to transition defence into attack at ease.
“That season when they won the league with that magnificent season – yes Kante was the outstanding player and Riyad Mahrez was very near that but Danny Drinkwater really came to the fore,” Wright told Sky Sports’ The Debate show.
“Not just the way he helps snuff things but also going forward.
“He’s a good player and that’s why a team like Chelsea will take him because knows what it takes.”
This might turn out to be a shrewd signing for Conte and Chelsea!
