Chelsea preparing bid for Aaron Ramsey

Premier League giants, Chelsea, are reportedly preparing a late offer to sign Arsenal’s star midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who will cost the Blues a transfer fee of around £35 million.

The Welshman has only one year left in his contract at the Emirates and would be leaving on a free transfer if he does not sign a new deal. With that being said, the Gunners had been in negotiations with Ramsey’s agent regarding a new contract, but an agreement is yet to be reached.

Last month, Ramsey confessed that he was unsure whether the negotiations would resolve, meaning he might not sign a new deal with Arsenal.

The Sunday Express reports that Arsenal’s city-rivals Chelsea are willing to take advantage of the situation and make a bid for the 27-year-old before the transfer window ends on Thursday.

Reports also reveal that Arsenal are willing to offload the midfielder in order to fund further signings for Unai Emery.

At the beginning of this week, new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri confirmed that he was confident of signing another midfielder before the FA deadline of August 9.

‘We have very good midfielders, but maybe a midfielder with different characteristics [would be a good fit],’ he revealed.

Reports from The Sunday Express also suggest that the Italian coach was adamant to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa, but Tottenham Hotspur are thought to be leading the race for his signature.

Aaron Ramsey has been a Gunner for the past decade, after having signed from Cardiff City in the summer of 2008.

The midfielder scored seven times while assisted a further eight goals from 24 appearances in the Premier League last season, but he could not save the Gunners from finishing below the Top 4 in the Premier League table.

On the other hand, new manager Unai Emery has already made five new signings this transfer window, meaning that Arsenal would be willing to improve their net spend by offloading Ramsey, who is reportedly not willing to continue at the Emirates.
