A few weeks back, Robin Uthappa threw his name in the hat for the KKR captaincy, as the iconic KKR opener admitted that he would love to captain his beloved IPL side.

“Of course, I am. I’ll be honoured if the opportunity came along but it’s for the think-tank to decide — whatever role they want me to take, I’ll give my 110 percent. Adding value to my team as a cricketer is crucial to my game.

“The initial five or six years of the IPL, I moved around a lot, so for me to find one place I could call home was important. The people back in Kolkata are absolutely fantastic, they’ve treated me with so much love and care. Even the team management has stood by me right from the time I joined them.

Then last week, Jacques Kallis said that the team management have a few names in mind, with Robin and Aussie Chris Lynn as the prime candidates for the job.

“Yes, he is probably one of the candidates but we haven’t yet decided about it. Maybe, we will get to know in the next couple of weeks,” he said.

Now we learn that Chris Lynn hoping to be named KKR’s new captain, as the Aussie would want to lead his side in the upcoming edition of the IPL.

“I’d love to, I’d jump at the opportunity,” the Lynn was quoted as saying by cricket.com.au on Monday. “We’ve got a really good group at Kolkata. The coaching staff, Simon Katich, Jacques Kallis, Heath Streak … I can relate [easily to] them.”

“…there’s a couple of boys that have been in the IPL for 10 years so you can’t ignore their experience, especially in their own backyard. I’m still learning the game over there but if given the nod then I’d jump at the chance,” he said.

With both Kallis and Lynn on the same page, it looks the Aussi opener will be captaining the Kolkata franchise this year.
