Aurora Stadium Launceston average score in T20: Aurora Stadium Launceston BBL record highest run chase

Launceston’s Aurora Stadium is hosting the league match of BBL 2022-23 between Hobart Hurricanes and Perth Scorchers. This is the first match of the season at Aurora Stadium, where home side Hobart Hurricanes won the toss and opted to bat first.

After losing the first match, the Hurricanes have gone to the match with an unchanged lineup. The three overseas players of the side are Shadab Khan, Asif Ali and Jimmy Neesham. Perth Scorchers have made one change where Peter Hatzoglou has replaced Matthew Kelly.

Only a single game of the last season’s BBL was played here, but a couple of games will be played here this season. After tonight, the next BBL game here will be played between Hobart Hurricanes and Brisbane Heat on 25th January, 2023.

Launceston’s Aurora Stadium is not a regular cricketing venue as it hosts other sports like Football and Rugby. However, some of the home matches of Hobart Hurricanes are played here occasionally, and a total of 7 BBL games have been played here so far.

Out of those 7 games, four games have been won by the chasing teams with an average 1st innings score of 141 runs. This stat proves that batting has not been really easy here.

Aurora Stadium Launceston BBL record highest run chase

The highest successful T20 run-chase in Launceston has been achieved by Adelaide Strikers against home side Hobart Hurricanes in the BBL 2018-19 season. Hobart Hurricanes scored 169/7 in the first innings, where Matthew Wade played an excellent knock of 88 runs. Ben Laughlin took three wickets for the Strikers.

Adelaide Strikers chased the target easily in 17.5 overs with 7 wickets to spare where the opening combination of Alex Carey and Jake Weatherald stitched a century partnership. Both of them scored their respective half-centuries, and it was a convincing win in the end for them.
