Bellerive Oval Hobart weather today: Hobart weather warning for HUR vs STR BBL 2022-23 match

Hobart Hurricanes and Adelaide Strikers are slated to lock horns against each other for the first time in almost a year in Big Bash League 2022-23 Match 26 tonight. Considering Hobart’s domination at their home ground both against Adelaide and overall, they would be desperate to make the most of a match at the Bellerive Oval in order to improve their position on the standings.

It is noteworthy that Hurricanes are currently at the bottom of the points table after two wins and three losses in their first five BBL 12 matches. The fact that both their wins this season have come on home venues further increases the seriousness of the situation for them.

Strikers, on the other hand, have won and lost three matches each thus far to be at the fourth position on the points table. In what is going to be their fourth away match, readers must note that they have won one and lost two matches away from home till now.

Having said that, Hurricanes’ urgency around gaining advantage at home might get affected due to weather gods planning to make their presence felt for the second time in BBL 2022-23. Co-incidentally, the first instance of a rain-affected match this season had also featured HH.

It is worth mentioning that “Severe Thunderstorm Warning” is predicted in Hobart between 03:58 PM – 06:58 PM. While the match is slated to begin at 07:15 PM, a 21% rain probability at 07:00 PM according to weather portal AccuWeather might see some rainfall pouring over the Blundstone Arena right before the start time.

“We have had pictures from members of the public that have indicated that there’s been hail between 2 and 5 centimetres in diameter, very close to the threshold for giant hail which is very rare for Tasmania,” meteorologist Brooke Oakley told ABC News.

Assuming that the weather gods remain lenient, there still could be a certain delay to the bat flip. However, considering how rain probability is expected to reduce to zero afterwards, it has it in it to pave way for a rain-curtailed contest.
