After an edge-of-a-seat thriller during the tournament opener on Tuesday, the crowd at the Adelaide Oval witnessed a one-sided affair as the home side Adelaide Strikers, defeated the three-time champions Sydney Sixers by 51 runs today in the second match of the ongoing 12th edition of the Big Bash League (BBL).

Opting to bat first with veteran pacer Peter Siddle leading the side in the absence of Travis Head, the 38-year-old’s decision did pay-off as Matthew Short’s half-century – 84 (55), along with handy contributions from Chris Lynn (41) and Adam Hose (40) took the Adelaide Strikers to a challenging total of 184/6 after 20 Overs.
In reply, apart from Jordan Silk’s knock of 36 (25), none of the Sixers batters could make a significant contribution, as the previous season runners-up could only manage to post 133/7 after their 20 Overs. Henry Thornton (4-0-20-4) and Rashid Khan (4-0-21-3) were the pick of the bowlers for the Strikers.
Big Bash commentators Fox Sports
Akin the previous seasons, Fox Sports, the premier broadcaster of the Big Bash League this year as well, has provided the fans with a star-studded commentary panel.
However, the commentary box this time around, will be massively missing the voices of Australia’s two legendary cricketers in late Shane Warne and Andrew Symonds, who lost their lives this year to leave the entire cricketing fraternity teary-eyed.
Former Aussie wicket-keeper batter and Fox Cricket commentator for BBL 2022-23 Adam Gilchrist did pay this tribute to the duo, while admitting that it will indeed be hard to call the matches this season without them at the panel.
“The game goes on, it always does – but we miss our two mates. It’s going to be a tough summer because we’re going to think of them everyday,” remarked a teary-eyed Gilchrist.

Despite the huge void, Gilchrist will have the company of some of the finest presenters and Australian cricketers to commentate the game alongside him.
Along with Fox Sports presenters Mark Howard and Kath Loughnan, former Aussie cricketers in Mark Waugh and Brett Lee will also be part of the commentary box for Fox Cricket.
The likes of Glenn Maxwell, Aaron Finch, Moises Henriques, Dan Christian, and Sam Billings will also call the games as guest commentators when their teams will not be in action.
