CPL 2020: Rashid Khan reacts funnily after getting hit in the abdomen in Zouks vs Tridents match

Rashid Khan reacts funnily: The Tridents’ spinner saw the funny side of a throw on social media platform Twitter.

During the fifth match of the ongoing eighth season of the Caribbean Premier League between St Lucia Zouks and Barbados Tridents in Tarouba, Barbados Tridents spinner Rashid Khan got hit in the abdomen after he failed to collect a throw from the boundary.

It all happened after the first delivery of the second over when St Lucia Zouks all-rounder Rahkeem Cornwall hit a Rashid delivery towards deep mid-wicket to run a single. The ball hit Rashid whilst he was receiving the throw at the non-striker’s back.

Fortunate enough to not get hurt, the 21-year old player saw the funny side of the incident on his social media platform Twitter handle. “Tooo close,” read Rashid’s tweet below the video posted on the official handle of Caribbean Premier League.

Despite the weather forecast in Tarouba, both the matches were able to witness a result. However, the first had to be reduced to a five-over fixture where Zouks were required to chase 47 runs to win.

Cameos from the likes of wicket-keeper batsman Andre Fletcher (16*), all-rounder Mohammad Nabi (15) and Cornwall (14) powered Zouks won register a 7-wicket victory in the last over. While Rashid dismissed Cornwall and Nabi in the two overs that he bowled, him leaking 24 runs in the process proved costly for Tridents.

Earlier, it was Barbados captain Jason Holder who won the toss and chose to bat. Before rain affected the match, Tridents had scored 131/7 in 18.1 overs on the back of opening batsman Johnson Charles scoring 35 (19) including three fours and two sixes.
