After West Indies legendary allrounder Kieron Pollard announced his retirement from the Indian Premier League last month, another legend from the Caribbean – Dwayne Bravo, decided to call it time from the lucrative league, after Chennai Super Kings (CSK) decided to not retain him for the upcoming 16th edition of the league next year.

Bravo’s decision to retire from the IPL came after he decided to not register himself for the imminent mini auction ahead of the next season.
Bravo, 39, retired as the leading wicket-taker in the IPL, with 183 scalps across 158 innings at an average of 23.82.
The allrounder has been more than an integral part of the CSK family, having made handy contributions in three of their four IPL title triumphs in 2011, 2018, and 2021. He had also helped the franchise lift the now-defunct Champions League T20 title in the year 2014.
Except for IPL 2017, Bravo has been part of each the 14 IPL editions, turning up for three franchises all these years in Mumbai Indians, Chennai Super Kings, and Gujarat Lions.
CSK bowling coach
It is the end of the road for Dwayne Bravo and the IPL only in the capacity of a player, as the ‘Yellow Army’ management have signed him as their bowling coach for IPL 2023.
CSK’s bowling coach until this year, Laxmipathy Balaji, has reportedly taken a year break due to ‘personal commitments’, which makes way for Bravo to fittingly take up his place in the support staff.
At present, the 39-year-old is leading the Delhi Bulls side in the ongoing Abu Dhabi T10 League. Moreover, he will also be part of the inaugural season of the Dubai T20 League (ILT20) next year, where he has been signed by the MI Emirates – the sister franchise of the five-time IPL champions Mumbai Indians. Coincidentally, he will play under Kieron Pollard, who has been announced as the skipper of the side.
