During the third match of the ongoing 13th season of the Indian Premier League between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Dubai, Sunrisers Hyderabad captain David Warner was dismissed in a bizarre manner in the second over of the innings.
Chasing a 164-run target, Hyderabad’s quickfire start received a blow when Warner departed after scoring 6 (6). It all happened when Sunrisers wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow hit an Umesh Yadav delivery firmly down the ground.
Just as the ball was passing the bowler, Yadav tried unsuccessfully to stop it. However, in the process, he ended up guiding it to the stumps at the non-striker’s end where Warner was comfortable out of his crease.

Given Warner’s record as captain at the top of the order, Royal Challengers would be relieved to dismiss him for a low score.
Earlier, it was Warner who had won the toss and opted to field. On the back of half-centuries by Devdutt Padikkal (56) and AB de Villiers (51), RCB scored a competitive 163/5 in 20 overs.
With bowling figures of 1.2-0-14-1, Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Vijay Shankar was the pick of their bowlers. Other than Shankar, all-rounder Abhishek Sharma and pacer T Natarajan also picked a wicket apiece.
