During the second T20I of the ongoing Pakistan’s tour of England in Manchester, England batsman Dawid Malan scored his sixth T20I half-century to seal a 196-run target with authority.
Coming in to bat at No. 3 in the seventh over, Malan played under the shadow of his captain in Eoin Morgan who blazed his way past to score a match-winning 66 (33) with the help of six fours and four sixes.

The pair shared a 112-run partnership for the third wicket before Morgan was dismissed by Haris Rauf in the 17th over. Taking the mantle upon himself, Malan stood tall on his potential and form in the format to score the winning runs in the form of a boundary off Pakistan speedster Shaheen Shah Afridi.
The highlight of Malan’s innings was a slog sweep which he hit off Pakistan all-rounder and his Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan in the 14th over. From the connection at the time of the ball hitting the hat, it was evident that the ball was bound to travel afar.
Remaining unbeaten till the end, Malan scored 54* (36) with the help of six fours and a six as England sealed the chase in the last over. However, it was Morgan’s whirlwind innings which brought back England into the match after they lost their opening batsmen on successive deliveries.
As far as Malan and Shadab Khan are concerned, the latter plays under the former at Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League.
In the four matches that Malan played for United earlier this year, he scored 131 runs at an average of 43.66 and a strike rate of 142.39. Further improving his numbers at the highest level, the southpaw now has 546 runs at an average of 54.60 and a strike rate of 150 including a century and six half-centuries.
