"Don't mess": Sarfaraz Ahmed thwacks four consecutive sixes off Iftikhar Ahmed in PSL 2021

Sarfaraz Ahmed thwacks four consecutive sixes: The captain of Quetta Gladiators scored his second consecutive half-century under pressure.

During the 12th match of the ongoing sixth season of Pakistan Super League between Islamabad United and Quetta Gladiators in Karachi, Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed led from the front yet again to bring up his 13th T20 half-century.

After Islamabad United captain Shadab Khan won the toss and chose to field, Quetta found themselves reeling at 41/4 inside the powerplay. Having come in to bat at No. 4 in the third over, Ahmed held one end up to ensure that his bowlers have a decent target to defend.

With all-rounders in Mohammad Nawaz (31*) and Ben Cutting (23) providing vital contributions, Ahmed’s second half-century in as many matches saved the night for his team to a large extent.

The highlight of Ahmed’s captaincy knock came in the 13th over when he broke the shackles to thwack four consecutive sixes off United’s Iftikhar Ahmed. Ahmed, who has got his eye in by then, played identical shots on the leg-side to leave the off-spinner clueless.

In what was his fifth PSL half-century, Ahmed departed after scoring 54 (41) with the help of three fours and four sixes to power Gladiators to 156/7 in 20 overs. With bowling figures of 4-0-11-3, Islamabad all-rounder Faheem Ashraf was the pick of their bowlers.
