Known for his tactical acumen and the sense of taking the right decision at the right time, the broadcasters and fans do make sure to hype his successful on-field decisions every time he makes one.
During IPL 2023 Qualifier 1 against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday, his one such move had resulted in the dismissal of counterpart Hardik Pandya. Just before the fall of his wicket, Dhoni had moved a fielder from the square leg region towards the off-side. And guess what, Pandya played the ball straight into the hands of that very fielder.

Moeen Ali Reveals Rare Quality which Makes MS Dhoni a Successful Captain
As CSK find themselves just one step away from clinching a record-equaling fifth IPL title, Ali was wax lyrical about Dhoni during an interaction with Star Sports Tamil after the contest at Chepauk.
The 35-year old began by exclaiming that the ongoing season is the best he has seen his skipper bat, be it in the nets or during the matches. He further remarked that the rare quality which makes him a successful captain is that he is in full control of the decisions he makes and knows exactly what he’s doing.
“I’ve been here this month, and I feel like this is the best he’s batting. He’s been batting extremely well in the nets. He’s an amazing captain obviously, everyone knows. But, he just knows what he’s doing, and that’s very rare in a captain. There’s almost a fear factor with his captaincy. He’s always calm, and as you seen on TV its him. Obviously, a mega superstar throughout India.”

MS Dhoni Batting performance in IPL 2023
Playing the role of a finisher by coming into bat mostly at No.8 in the ongoing season, the 41-year-old has nearly aced the role he has assigned himself as he steps on to the twilight of his cricketing career.
Having faced mere 56 deliveries this year, Dhoni has batted at a strike rate of 185.71 with the help of 10 lip-smacking sixes. Overall, across 11 innings (including 8 not outs), he has scored 104 runs at an average of 34.66.
