India wicket-keeper batter Ishan Kishan is currently into his eighth Indian Premier League season. Having made his debut for Gujarat Lions in 2016, Kishan has been with Mumbai Indians since IPL 2018.

Leading India U-19 during ICC Under-19 World Cup 2016, Kishan was yet to lead his team to the final when he was confirmed to be part of the ninth season of the IPL later that year.
Kishan, who had registered himself under the lowest price category of INR 10 lakh, ended up earning INR 35 lakh after Lions had pinned down Rising Pune Supergiant to make the successful bid for the left-handed batter. Readers must note that both GL and RPS were replacements for Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals as they were suspended for a couple of years.
With another mega auction happening before IPL 2018, Kishan was bought by Indians for a whopping INR 6.2 crore. Apart from the eventual winners, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Super Kings had also expressed interest in Kishan at the time.
The introduction of a couple of teams before IPL 2022 had meant that the biggest T20 league across the globe would undergo another mega auction. Not among the four players retained by MI, Kishan was bought back by the franchise on the day of the auction.
Costliest player of IPL 2022 auction, Kishan currently earns INR 15.25 crore as annual IPL salary. Although Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad had tried their best to acquire Kishan’s services last year, Mumbai didn’t let them bid successfully for a player who had already played four seasons for them.
