Junction Oval Melbourne pitch report: Junction Oval pitch report for STA vs SCO BBL 12 match

Melbourne Stars will take on Perth Scorchers in the league game of the Big Bash League 2022-23 season at the Junction Oval in Melbourne. This ground has just hosted a single BBL game in the past, and it will be interesting to see the nature of the pitch in this match.

After losing their opening game, Melbourne Stars won their last game where Joe Clarke scored an excellent century. The bowling looks strong with the likes of Trent Boult, Luke Wood, Adam Zampa, etc, but the batting of the side has to improve in order to face a potent Perth attack.

Perth Scorchers lost their last game against Hobart Hurricanes, and they would want to bounce back where. The likes of Andrew Tye, Jason Behrendorff, Jhye Richardson, Ashton Agar, etc make the bowling of this side one of the bests in the tournament. If the batters can play well, this team is excellent on paper.

Junction Oval Melbourne pitch report

The Junction Oval in Melbourne is not a regular venue for the BBL games, but it has been one of the important venues in the WBBL. It will be interesting to see a BBL game being played here between two top sides. Apart from WBBL, some Australian T20 domestic games have been played here.

It is interesting that the only BBL game played here was also between Melbourne Stars and Perth Scorchers only, where the Scorchers scored 180/8 in the 1st innings, and the Stars could manage to score 130 runs. The same pattern was seen in the WBBL games as well here.

This is an excellent track for batting with an even bounce on the wicket, and the batters can play their shots at their will. With a short boundary size and faster outfield, the batters will love their time out there in the middle. However, it has been seen that the pacers have got some assistance from this wicket. Both captains may bat first upon winning the toss and put a good target on the board.
