KL Rahul wicket today: Jonny Bairstow catch to dismiss KL Rahul stuns one and all in Leeds Test

KL Rahul wicket: The Indian opening batsman was dismissed for his second single-digit score in the ongoing Test at Headingley.

During the third day of the third Test of the ongoing India’s tour of England in Leeds, England batsman Jonny Bairstow grabbed a stunner at second slip to take everyone by surprise.

It all happened on the final delivery of the 19th over when India opening batsman Lokesh Rahul (8) edged a Craig Overton delivery towards the slips. Wanting to defend a delivery which straightened after pitching, Rahul’s defensive approach worked against him as it led to his dismissal.

While the ball was moving more towards England captain Joe Root at first slip, it was Bairstow from second slip who dived in front of Root to complete a laudable one-handed catch at Headingley.

Considering the speed at which the ball was traveling, Bairstow’s reflexes put on display a fantastic effort as it played a vital role in dismissing the first Indian batsman in the second innings.

Rahul, who got out on the last delivery before the lunch break, not only registered his second single-digit score in a row but also failed to convert his slightly unconvincing but patient start into a significant score.

India, who still trail by more than 300 runs in the second innings, have a long way to go as far as saving this match is concerned.
