MA Chidambaram Stadium Chennai Pitch Report for Today's Match between CSK and LSG

The sixth match of the ongoing 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, between the home side Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) today (Monday).

A one-man show effectively from Ruturaj Gaikwad during their opening match versus Gujarat Titans (GT) was not enough to take them over the line, as MS Dhoni‘s side had lost the match by 5 wickets.

LSG, on the other hand, were clinical with both bat and the ball during their tournament opener against Delhi Capitals, last Saturday. While Kyle Mayers (73 off 38) stole the show with the bat, pacer Mark Wood single-handedly won the match with the ball with a five-fer.

With CSK back at the home venue in Chepauk, which has always been a happy hunting ground for them over the years, it will be interesting to see how the LSG come prepared to take them on tonight.

MA Chidambaram Stadium Chennai Pitch Report

As has been the case over the years, the MA Chidambaram Stadium pitch in Chennai is yet again likely to turn out as spin-friendly.

During the previous full season IPL in India (during the 2019 edition), the average score posted by the teams across eight matches here was mere 141.6 runs.

The batters will have to get used to the low pace of the pitch here, an then begin playing their strokes in order to taste success. As for the bowlers, both the sides are expected to deploy a spin-heavy combination, with the impact player substitute likely to come handy as well.

Most recently, during India’s third ODI at Chennai against Australia in March, spinners managed to pick up 11 of the 20 wickets, while also returning with pretty economical figures.

Thus, expect the surface tonight to yet again grip and turn, with the captain winning the Toss likely to bowl first.

CSK vs LSG in IPL 2022

The only time that CSK and LSG locked horns last year was during the seventh match of the league, at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

LSG went on to win the contest by six wickets, chasing down the stiff target of 211 runs handed to them by the CSK batters.

Southpaw batter Evin Lewis was adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ for his splendid cameo of 55 (23) while coming in at no.4 in the batting order.
