Man of the Match today IPL 2021: Who was awarded the Man of the Match award in PBKS vs CSK IPL 2021 match?

Man of the Match today: The seamer from Chennai Super Kings was awarded the Man of the Match award for picking his career-best bowling figures.

During the eighth match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings in Mumbai, Chennai Super Kings beat Punjab Kings by 6 wickets to register their first win this season.

Chasing a paltry 107-run target, Super Kings thrived on the back of a 66-run partnership for the second wicket between their overseas duo of Faf du Plessis (36*) and Moeen Ali (46).

While du Plessis was playing more of a second fiddle, it was Ali who played some eye-catching shots in his seven fours and a six as Chennai sealed the chase in the 16th over.

After being asked to bat first by Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Punjab never really got going scoring a momentum-less 106/8 in 20 overs. Barring Shahrukh Khan scoring 47 (36), no other Punjabi batsman found his mojo at the Wankhede Stadium tonight.

Bowling with the new ball as he usually does, Super Kings seamer Deepak Chahar bowled a peach of a delivery to Mayank Agarwal (0) to draw first blood in the first over itself. What followed was Chahar sending back the West Indian duo of Chris Gayle (10) and Nicholas Pooran (0) within a span of three deliveries in his third over to put PBKS on the back foot.

With Dhoni opting to bowl him out, Chahar didn’t let his fourth over go wicket-less as he dismissed Deepak Hooda (10) to reduce the batting side to 26/5 in the seventh over. Having picked his career-best IPL bowling figures of 4-1-13-4, Chahar was awarded the ‘Man of the Match’ and rightly so.

“I think Mayank’s [Agarwal] wicket I enjoyed the most – a dream ball for a bowler to swing and hit top of off stump. You want to pitch it close to middle and then move to hit top of off.

“When the catch went to Ruturaj [Gaikwad], I wanted [Ravindra] Jadeja to be there because he’s the one fielder who can take the difficult ones. Hopefully I can deliver in some more matches,” Chahar told Star Sports during the post-match presentation ceremony.
