Former England team captain Michael Vaughan is quite optimistic of a bright future for the 21-year-old Yashasvi Jaiswal, after the latter hits his maiden Indian Premier League century off mere 53 balls, against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium tonight.

In what was a class batsmanship of the highest order, the opening batter displayed some fantastic range of stroke play until the 20th Over of the Rajasthan Royals innings, and headed back towards the dug out only after amassing 124 runs off mere 62 deliveries, with the help of 16 Fours and 8 Sixes.

His 124-run knock also happens to be the highest individual score by an uncapped player in the IPL, bettering former Punjab Kings batter Paul Valthaty’s score of 120* during the 2011 edition of the league, versus the Chennai Super Kings.

Moreover, not only has he become the fourth-youngest batter to score an IPL ton, but has helped RR post their highest team total – 212/7, against MI, with both the teams also playing the 1000th IPL match tonight.

Michael Vaughan, akin scores of Cricket fans and experts was all praises for Yashasvi after his special knock. The 48-year-old in fact, has named him as his new favourite Indian cricketer, as he took to his social media handle to express admiration for the RR batter.

Having arrived after scoring truckload of runs for Mumbai domestic team, Yashasvi Jaiswal has made sure to carry his form in the ongoing 16th season of the IPL as well.

Having already scored three half-centuries and a couple of forties before tonight’s innings, Jaiswal has now claimed the top-spot in the list of highest-run getters in IPL 2023, and has donned the Orange Cap.

Replacing Faf du Plessis at the numero uno spot, he has now amassed 428 runs across nine innings, at an average and strike rate of 47.55 and 159.70 respectively.
