"Overrated player": Fans slam Sanju Samson after another failure in international cricket

Fans slam Sanju Samson: The 26-year old Indian wicket-keeper batsman continues to struggle for runs at the highest level.

During the third T20I of the ongoing India’s tour of Sri Lanka in Colombo, India wicket-keeper batsman Sanju Samson continued his lean patch at the highest level scoring 0 (3) after coming in to bat at No. 4 in the fifth over.

Samson, who got out to Sri Lanka spinner Akila Dananjaya last night, was found wanting in front of the stumps by Wanidu Hasaranga tonight.

Neither in front not back with respect to his feet, Samson was stuck on the crease playing across the line casually when a quicker delivery from the leg-spinner hit him in front of the stumps.

Having returned with scores of 46, 27, 7 and 0 in four innings on this tour, Samson has performed nowhere close to what was required for him to press his case for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.

All in all, Samson has scored 163 runs in 11 international innings across formats at a paltry average of 14.81. For a player of his talent and ability, Samson is doubtlessly yet to play his breakthrough innings for India.

Playing with an inexperienced batting unit, Indian batsmen have struggled big time against the Sri Lankan spinners after being restricted to 36/5 in nine overs tonight.
