Players retained by RCB for IPL 2021: The Virat Kohli-led franchise has released as many as 10 players ahead of IPL 2021 auction.

Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore have released as many as 10 players ahead of the auction 14th season of the tournament.

Under captain Virat Kohli for the eighth season in a row, Royal Challengers finished at the fourth position on the points table before failing to make it through to the finals.

Known for constantly tinkering with their squad, Bangalore have given the impression of sticking with their strategy as they’ve released as many as 10 players. Technically, they’ve released eight as former India wicket-keeper batsman Parthiv Patel has retired from all formats and veteran South Africa fast bowler Dale Steyn has opted out of IPL 2021.

Among overseas players, Australia white-ball captain Aaron Finch, South Africa all-rounder Chris Morris, England all-rounder Moeen Ali and Sri Lanka all-rounder Isuru Udana have failed to earn a retention at RCB.

As far as the Indian players are concerned, fast bowler Umesh Yadav, all-rounders Shivam Dube and Pawan Negi and batsman Gurkeerat Singh Mann have been released by Royal Challengers.

Players retained by RCB for IPL 2021

The 12 players which RCB have retained include eight Indians in captain Virat Kohli, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal, batsmen Devdutt Padikkal and Pavan Deshpande, all-rounders Washington Sundar and Shahbaz Ahmed and fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Navdeep Saini.

Among the overseas names, former South Africa captain AB de Villiers and the Australian trio of Adam Zampa, Josh Philippe and Kane Richardson have been retained for Indian Premier League 2021.

It is worth mentioning that Zampa had been brought in as Richardson’s replacement for IPL 2020 after the latter chose to skip the cash-rich league to be with his wife as the couple of was expecting the birth of their first child.
