REN vs SCO pitch report: Docklands Stadium Melbourne pitch report batting or bowling

Melbourne Renegades will take on Perth Scorchers in the 24th league match of the Big Bash League 2022-23 season. This is the only closed-roof stadium in Australia, and it will be interesting to see the nature of the pitch here.

After winning three games on the trot, the Renegades have lost their last three games now. It is interesting that after the arrival of their star batters, the batting of the side has struggled to get going. The bowlers are the strength of this side, and they will again be very important in this match.

Perth Scorchers are the table-toppers, and they have been tremendous in the tournament so far. Ashton Agar will miss the game, but the rest of the team is all set to get going. The bowling of this side is one of the best in the tournament, and they are the reason behind the team’s success.

The Docklands Stadium, often known as the Marvel Stadium will be hosting its 2nd BBL game of the ongoing season. Melbourne Renegades would want to take advantage of their home conditions in order to get back on the winning ways. The Renegades’ management said after the draft that they made a team based on their home conditions only.

Due to the lockdown in Perth, a total of 11 games were played here last season, where the average 1st innings score was 174 runs and 8 matches were won by the teams batting first. It is a really good pitch to bat on with an even bounce on the offering, and the faster outfield makes the job easier for the batters.

However, it has been observed that the spinners play a huge role in the 2nd innings of the match as it gets a little slower in the latter half. It is a day game, and considering the nature of the wicket, batting first won’t be a bad option upon winning the toss.
