Batting after being on the sidelines for three Indian Premier League 2023 matches in a row, Rajasthan Royals batter Riyan Parag (4) wasted another opportunity of walking the talk by not being able to justify the faith imposed upon him by the franchise.

Not part of the original Playing XI, Parag got to bat as an Impact Player under more of desperate and panicky circumstances. Been reduced to 63/4 in eight overs which included the dismissal of a bowler in Ravichandran Ashwin (2), Royals couldn’t resist a temptation of bringing in an additional batter in their bid to post a respectable innings total.
Parag, who walked out to bat at No. 6, wasn’t allowed to generate any sort of momentum before Gujarat Titans spinner Rashid Khan (3/14) found him wanting in front of the stumps. With the 21-year old player opting to challenge umpire Saiyed Khalid’s decision, he also ended up wasting a review which acted as salt to the home team’s wounds.
Readers must note that Parag’s 58 runs across six innings this season have come at an average and strike rate of 11.60 and 107.40 respectively.
In addition to departing for a single-digit score, Parag also denied his team an option of defending a low innings total with an additional bowler at their disposal. RR, who had the likes of pacers KM Asif and Kuldip Yadav and spinner Murugan Ashwin as their other substitutes, could’ve really benefited from the presence of another Ashwin in the second innings.
An absolute shocker of a batting performance in a home match witnessed Rajasthan getting bundled out for 118 in 17.5 overs tonight. Collectively struggling against a couple of Afghan wrist-spinners, the hosts half of their batters against Rashid Khan and Noor Ahmad (2/25).

Riyan Parag IPL 2023 Price
Currently into his fifth season of the biggest T20 tournament in the world, Parag wasn’t retained by the franchise after representing them for three seasons ahead of IPL 2022 mega auction.
However, Royals seemed to be quite adamant on buying back their player during the auction. Having registered himself for INR 30 lakh, the right-handed batter ended up bagging 10 times his base price after RR defeated GT regarding a successful INR 3.8 crore bid for Parag.
