SA 20 time table: Has SA20 2023 league been postponed?

The debut season of Cricket South Africa’s franchise-based T20 league is up and running with fans turning up in huge numbers with each passing day. With more than half the number of matches already completed, the league is nearing towards its business end.

Apart from the Durban Super Giants (DSG), all the five other teams are still in contention of a semi-final berth. With mere two wins across seven matches, they are presently reeling at the bottom of the points table with 8 points under their belt.

Led by the Proteas star wicket-keeper batter Quinton de Kock, the DSG were in with a decent chance on notch-up their third win of the season yesterday, but Joburg Super Kings’ skipper Faf du Plessis smashed SA20’s maiden century (113* off 58) to single-handedly hand his side an eight-wicket victory to register their fourth win of the season.

The Pretoria Capitals (PC), with 5 wins out of 7 matches, are currently placed at the top of the table with 23 points under their name.

Will Jacks has been the star for the Capitals in the season so far with the bat, and presently is at the third spot in the list of leading run-scorers with 270 runs across 7 innings, at a scintillating strike rate of 201.49.

He scored the fastest half-century of SA20 – 62 off 27 deliveries, during his previous match against the MI Cape Town (MICT) on Monday.

SA 20 time table

After non-stop Cricketing action for the past 15 days, the SA20 2023 league will take a week long break, and will resume from February 2 onwards, with the match between Durban Super Giants (DSG) and MI Cape Town (MICT).

The reason for the break is that England is scheduled to tour South Africa for a three-match ODI series, with the first match set to take place on January 27, at the Manguang Oval in Bloemfontein.

The 16-man Proteas squad will assemble in the city from January 24-25, with the last ODI scheduled to take place on February 1, at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley.

Apart from skipper Temba Bavuma, all the 15 players in the South Africa squad are part of the SA20 league.
