During the 23rd match of the ongoing sixth season of the Pakistan Super League between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators in Abu Dhabi, Quetta Gladiators captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was involved in a heated exchange with Lahore Qalandars fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi.
It all happened on the penultimate delivery of the penultimate over when Afridi’s accurate bouncer hit Ahmed on his helmet. In what was a no-ball as Afridi had overstepped, Ahmed and Hassan Khan also ran a leg bye.
In the process, Ahmed was seen saying something to Afridi which didn’t please the 21-year old player. Going by his actions and the commentators’ words, it appeared as it Ahmed was asking Afridi to calm down after getting hit on the helmet. If the same was the case in reality, the same doesn’t really make much sense in a competitive match.

Been converted into an extended going at each other, Ahmed and Afridi were distanced after players and umpire Aleem Dar intervened in between. Eventually, veteran Qalandars batsman Mohammad Hafeez was seen calming Ahmed down at the non-striker’s end.
Coming in to bat at No. 4 in the ninth over, Ahmed’s 34* (27) played a vital role in Gladiators scoring 158/5 in 20 overs after being put in to bat first by Lahore captain Sohail Akhtar. Afridi, who remained wicket-less in his four overs at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium, gave away just 28 runs tonight.
