Australia and South Africa will play the 2nd test of the 3-match series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. This is a boxing day test, and Cricket Australia will honour the late leg-spinner, Shane Warne, during the game.

Shane Warne passed away earlier this year, and he was recently given a tribute in the Big Bash League as well where the fans clapped for him during the match. It is safe to say that Warne is one of the most iconic players to ever play for Australia, and he deserves all the tributes he is getting.
Warne was the first bowler in cricket history to surpass the milestone of 700 test wickets, and he is the 2nd highest wicket-taker in tests after Muttiah Muralitharan. He was also indulged in quite a few controversies during his career.
Shane Warne floppy hat
Legendary Australian spinner Shane Warne will be honoured at his home ground in MCG on the first day of the Boxing Day test between Australia and South Africa. Warne was a local lad from Victoria, and he has some happy memories on the ground as well. He scalped a hat-trick here during Ashes 1994, and he also scalped his 700th test wicket here.
The fans are encouraged to wear Warne’s iconic floppy hat and apply zinc cream on their faces. During the national anthem, the players of both teams will be wearing floppy hats. Warne’s test number was 350, and the number 350 will be painted on the square of the wicket. At 3:50 pm on the day 1st of the match, Warne’s highlight will be shown on the TV screens.

When did Shane Warne die
Shane Warne passed away on 4 March 2022 due to a suspected heart attack in Thailand. The news of Warne’s passing surprised the whole cricketing fraternity, and he still is being missed. Warne was a continuous figure in the commentary box as well, and his sense of the game was 2nd to none.
A stand has been named at the MCG in Shane Warne’s name, and he is continued to be remembered by everyone around the world. Recently, Adam Gilchrist also highlighted how the Fox Cricket team gave a tribute to him.
