Gujarat Titans batter Shubman Gill has finally managed to score a maiden Indian Premier League century. Playing his 87th match in what is his sixth IPL season, Gill touched the three-figure mark against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Narendra Modi Stadium tonight.

With his last T20I and Test centuries also coming in Ahmedabad, this innings means that the right-handed batter has now scored his last three centuries in representative cricket at this venue.
Gill, who had scored in the 90s in both his seasons for GT until the ongoing match, has become the first batter from this franchise to score a hundred. Only the second batter to score an IPL century in this city, Gill is the eighth batter to achieve this milestone against SRH.
It all happened on second delivery of the penultimate over when the 23-year old player hit a T Natarajan (1/34) delivery towards long-on for a single to register the 81st instance of a batter scoring a century in the biggest T20 league across the globe. Speaking of the ongoing 16th season of the IPL, Gill has become the sixth batter to achieve this milestone.
As far as T20s are concerned, this is Gill’s second century in this format. Not too long ago, Gill’s maiden T20 hundred had come while representing Punjab in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2022-23 quarter final against Karnataka at the Eden Gardens (home ground of his previous IPL franchise in Kolkata Knight Riders).
A knock which came straight out of Gill’s quintessential T20 handbook comprising proper cricketing shots saw him score 101 (58) with the help of 13 fours and a six. The crowning moment of the innings was him hitting four back-to-back fours off pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi (1/31) in the powerplay.
Pretty much a one-man show on a Monday night, Gill’s effort powered Titans to 188/9 in 20 overs after being asked to bat first by Sunrisers captain Aiden Markram.
