Simonds Stadium Geelong pitch report: REN vs HEA today BBL match pitch report

Melbourne Renegades will take on Brisbane Heat in the league match of the Big Bash League 2022-23 at the Simonds Stadium in Geelong. This is the very first match of this tournament in Geelong, and it will be interesting to see how the pitch will fare in this game.

The Renegades have won their initial two games, and they are looking in a great rhythm. Aaron Finch proved his class in the last game, whereas Nic Maddinson was great in the side’s first match. Kane Richardson and Tom Rogers will handle the team’s pace bowling, whereas Mujeeb ur Rahman and Akeal Hosein will take care of the spin.

Brisbane Heat lost their first match of the tournament, and it was against Melbourne Renegades only. Michael Neser and Matt Renshaw will be back for this game, and it is an encouraging sign for the side. The likes of Colin Munro and Sam Billings will again be really important.

Simonds Stadium Geelong pitch report

The Simonds Stadium in Geelong will host a couple of BBL games this season, and it will serve as the home venue for Melbourne Renegades. This ground recently hosted six games of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 qualifier stages, and it was certain that batting was not easy here.

A total of 6 T20 World Cup games were played here, where four of them were won by teams batting first. The average 1st innings score was just 143 runs, which states the nature of this wicket. The pitch here gets slow as the goes on, and the spinners will play a vital part on this track.

It was seen in the T20 World Cup that the outfield out here is very slow, and the ball just does not reach the boundary ropes easily. One side of the boundary is on the larger side as well. So, this venue has been tough for the batters, and the winning captain may opt to bat upon winning the toss.
