After a 10-month delay, the first Test of the imminent England’s tour of Sri Lanka will begin at the Galle International Stadium from January 14.
The two-match Test series will witness both the matches being played at the same venue as Sri Lanka will host international cricket for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic.
Out of the 34 Tests that Sri Lanka and England have played against each other, Sri Lanka have won just eight as compared to England’s 15 victories.
The last time when Sri Lanka and England had locked horns against each other was just over a couple of years ago when England had whitewashed Sri Lanka 3-0 in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka, who haven’t beaten England in a Test since their Headingley victory in 2014, would be looking to improve their record especially whilst playing at home.

Online followers of cricket in India can stream the first Test between Sri Lanka and England on Sony Network’s streaming application named Sony LIV. It is worth mentioning that the match can also be streamed on Airtel Xstream app as Sony Network’s channels are available on this platform as well.
As far as the live telecast of the Galle Test on a television channel in India is concerned, no official information has been provided as of now. If the match gets televised in India, there are chances of the same happening on any one of Sony Network’s channels.
Having said that, fans must note that there’s also a possibility of the match not getting televised at all in India. In that case, Sony LIV will be the only platform to watch this two-match Test series. It is worth mentioning that the recently concluded summer season in New Zealand was also only available on an online platform.
