Stuart Broad Pub: Full List of English Pacer’s Businesses

Veteran England bowler Stuart Broad is one of the best pacers around in the red-ball format of cricket. The 36-year-old player has 582 Test wickets under his name and is still going strong. Apart from cricket, Broad has already started his career off the field as well. He co-owns a pub named ‘Tap & Run’.

Broad’s Tap & Run Pub is situated in the Upper Broughton Area in Nottingham. Former England pacer Harry Gurney is Broad’s partner in the venture. Both Gurney and Broad used to play for Nottinghamshire together in domestic cricket. Gurney was forced to retire from cricket at the age of 34 after failing to recover from a shoulder injury.

Gurney and Broad are good friends and they started their company in 2018 named Cat and Wickets Pub Co. They certainly achieved a lot of success in their very first pub. In 2019, they got honoured at the Leicestershire Tourism and Hospitality Awards, and they won the Pub of the Year award in 2021.

Broad and Gurney’s owned pub was formerly known as The Golden Fleece, and it was closed since 2016. After the pace-duo acquired the venue in 2018, it became one of the most talked about places in the country. The food, drinks and ambiance at the place have been applauded by many.

The year 2022 was a disastrous one for the pub as it caught fire in June. The accident was caused by the laundry that ignited in a tumble dryer. It was said that the flames were so heavy that the houses nearby were advised to keep their houses shut during the rescue process.

After a year of hard work and £1m being spent in the renovation process, the space is all set to re-open on June 26, 2023 (as per the official website of the venue).

Recently, the duo of Broad and Gurney acquired yet another pub, and this time in Leicester. The name of the place is ‘The Griffin In’, and it is located in Swithland. It is the second pub under their company. It is said that the pair is aiming to open more pubs in the coming months with the investment from Lee Cash (founder of Peach Pubs).
