WATCH: Marcus Stoinis Left Flabbergasted as Ravindra Jadeja Jaffa Dismisses Him in LSG vs CSK IPL 2023 Match

Lucknow Super Giants all-rounder Marcus Stoinis was flabbergasted with his mode of dismissal during Indian Premier League 2023 Match 45 against Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium today. Stoinis, who became counterpart Ravindra Jadeja‘s first wicket, was part of a top-order collapse in a home match.

It all happened on the penultimate delivery of the seventh over when Jadeja registered a pinnacle dismissal for a left-arm spinner. A delivery with a lot of flight on it pitched outside the leg-stump only to turn and hit the off-stump.

Perhaps presuming it to be a harmless delivery, Stoinis casually looked to play a drive but ended up being completely foxed. Not making any contact with the ball as it turned sharply after pitching, the right-handed batter couldn’t believe his luck at the sight of the bails falling down.

Coming in to bat at No. 5 in the previous over, Stoinis returned back to the pavilion after scoring 6 (4). The dismissal resulted in a wicket for Jadeja in his first over of the match.

Spin-Friendly Pitches Killing IPL Excitement

With the hosts getting restricted to 4/34 in the seventh over, their batters failed terribly to counter the spin-friendly conditions on offer on a Wednesday afternoon.

Taking into consideration how such batting collapses have been frequent at this venue in the ongoing 16th season of the IPL, it raises questions around how the pitches here are not being conducive for this format.

The fact that Super Giants haven’t been able to thrive in these conditions should be the biggest reason for them to reconsider their overall strategy with respect to the pitches.

As far as this match is concerned, it will be interesting to see if a team is able to successfully defend a low innings total for the third time in a row at this venue or not.
