Why is D'Arcy Short not playing today's BBL 12 match between Adelaide Strikers vs Hobart Hurricanes at Adelaide Oval?

Adelaide Oval is hosting the 30th league match of the BBL 12 between Adelaide Strikers and Hobart Hurricanes. Both teams met each other on Monday, where Hobart Hurricanes defeated Adelaide Strikers in their home backyard.

The Strikers have lost their last four matches, and this is an important match for the side. Captain Peter Siddle has been replaced by Henry Thornton in this match, who is the best bowler of the tournament so far. This is the last match of BBL 12 for Rashid Khan, and he would want to make it count.

Hobart Hurricanes won the last match against Adelaide, and they will aim to make a double over them. The bowlers of the side have done well in the tournament so far, and if the batters can support them, this team has the potential to go over the line.

Why is D’Arcy Short not playing today’s BBL 12 match

Hobart Hurricanes have made one change to their playing 11 for the match against Adelaide Strikers where Zak Crawley has replaced D’arcy Short in the playing 11. English batter Crawley is making his BBL debut, and he was signed by the Hurricanes as an overseas replacement player.

Short is one of the most prolific cricketers in the history of BBL and not seeing his name in the playing 11 is a very big deal. He is named the 12th man of the squad, so it is safe to say that he is not injured and has been dropped from the playing eleven. Crawley certainly has a big void to fill.

Short has been an asset for the Hurricanes with both bat and the ball, but he had an ordinary last season. Ahead of BBL 12, Ponting said that Short will open in every game this time around, and they want to bring the best out of him. However, Short has been far from impressive, and he was demoted to the number 4 spot in the last match.
