Melbourne Cricket Ground is hosting the first Melbourne derby of BBL 12 between Melbourne Stars and Melbourne Renegades. Both teams are not in great form, and they are in desperate need of a win. The Stars won the toss and opted to bowl first.

Melbourne Stars won the last match, where Marcus Stoinis finally fired with the bat for the first time in the tournament. They have brought in Nathan Coulter-Nile for this match to strengthen their bowling attack in the game. The hosts would want to win consecutive games.

Melbourne Renegades were excellent at the start of the tournament, but they are now struggling to get a single win. The batting of the side is struggling a lot, but they have some big players who can turn the fortunes of the side. It is certain that the bowlers of the side have done really well.

Why is Nic Maddinson not playing today’s BBL 12 match

Melbourne Renegades have made a couple of changes in their playing 11 where Shaun Marsh and Sam Harper have replaced the duo of Nic Maddinson and Peter Handscomb. Maddinson was the captain of the side, and Aaron Finch will be leading the side in this Melbourne Derby.

The readers must note that Maddinson is out of the tournament and will play no further part in Renegades’ campaign. He injured himself while fielding in the last match against Perth Scorchers. Maddinson was taken off the field, and it was later revealed that he has suffered an ACL injury that will take some time to heal.

Maddinson was not having a great campaign with the bat, where he scored 129 runs in 7 innings at 18.42. The arrival of Marsh is good news for the side, he was rested in the last match and has already scored one half-century in two games so far in the tournament. Harper will also return at the top order.
