WPL commentators 2023: Sports18 commentators list for Women's Premier League

The inaugural season of Women’s Premier League is up and running with the tournament opener between Gujarat Giants Women and Mumbai Indians Women at the Dr DY Patil Sports Academy under way at the moment.

One of the three Australian captains in WPL 2023, Beth Mooney won the toss and elected to field only to be followed by Indians opening batter Hayley Matthews setting the stage on fire on the back of scoring 47 (31) with the help of three fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 151.61.

While a 38-ball 54-run second-wicket partnership between Matthews and all-rounder Nat Sciver-Brunt (23) laid a solid foundation for Mumbai, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and all-rounder Amelia Kerr are expected to shoulder responsibility and power the team to a challenging innings total in the second half of their innings.

WPL commentators 2023

A total of 34 commentators have signed up with Viacom18 Media Private Limited for Women’s Premier League 2023. According to the official press release, these 34 commentators have been grouped into five categories based on different languages namely English, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Telugu.

Legendary commentators such as Harsha Bhogle and Ravi Shastri can also be heard in the first match but one doesn’t expect them to be present for all the matches due to WPL 2023’s clash with Australia’s tour of India 2023.

Former Indian cricketers Venkatesh Prasad and Aakash Chopra, who had recently been part of a verbal spat on social media over India batter KL Rahul, are also working together for Viacom in this tournament. Having said that, Prasad and Chopra won’t be seen sharing the commentary box as they are part of Kannada and Hindi commentary panels respectively.

Chopra’s presence in the commentary box, in particular, should come as a source of amazement for fans. Not part of BGT 2023 commentary panel, Chopra was being missed by his plethora of fans lately.
