"Ye sara ka sara jhoot hai": Sonam Bajwa takes a dig at alleged Shubman Gill girlfriend as he scores consecutive ODI centuries

Batter Shubman Gill became the 10th Indian cricketer to score consecutive ODI centuries in the first ODI against New Zealand in Hyderabad yesterday. Gill, who followed his second ODI century with a maiden ODI double century on Wednesday, entered several record lists such as becoming the youngest batter to score a double century in this format and also becoming the joint second-fastest cricketer to reach 1,000 ODI runs.

Not merely an outright breakout innings for Gill but it is worth a mention that the last six months or so have witnessed him marking his presence at the highest level. Although some improvement is still needed in the shortest format, Gill is an archetype all-format batter who has it in him to dictate terms across formats and conditions.

While the 23-year old player has started with the ODI format with respect to making a name for himself, one expects him to do the same in Test cricket as well in the near future.

Gill, who has also made his way into advertisements and modelling, shouldn’t surprise anyone if he becomes a bankable entity for brands in the years to come. Although a specialist batter on a cricket field, Gill’s all-round skills off it can make him a prototypical hotshot among future stars.

What is also not surprising for a successful athlete such as Gill is finding himself in the middle of alleged relationships. Readers must note that Gill’s supposed relationships have never remained under wraps. While Gill has never posted about his love life on his social media handles, he has also not been able to contain the rumours doing the rounds across various platforms.

It is noteworthy that Gill has been linked to Sara Tendulkar (daughter of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar) and actor Sara Ali Khan till now. Both Gill’s so-called girlfriends (at different times though) sharing a common surname inspired actor Sonam Bajwa to take a hilarious dig when a Twitter user credited her to be a reason for the right-handed batter registering back-to-back ODI centuries.

For those who don’t know, Bajwa and Gill had met while shooting an episode of the former’s talk show named ‘Dil Diyan Gallan’ on ZEE Punjabi last year. Furthermore, Bajwa and Gill had talked about Sara Ali Khan twice during that episode as well.

Gill, who had advised India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal to make less Instagram reels on that show, also revealed how former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni had pumped him up after he flopped on ODI debut almost four years ago.

As far as Bajwa is concerned, she was last seen in Sameer Pannu’s ‘Jind Mahi’ (2022). One of the top female actors in Punjab, Bajwa has several upcoming movies namely ‘Carry On Jatta 3’, ‘Maurh’ and ‘Godday Godday Chaa’.
